Christ Church Cranbrook, in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, is the home of our Opus 64, a Continuo organ. This beautiful church is also the home of a fine E. M. Skinner organ, recently refurbished by Mander. The Director of Music is Charles Raines. Our organ is on wheels so it can be used to accompany the choir at the rear of the nave, wheeled to the Chancel for a concert, or even into the fellowship hall for more intimate performances. The organ is completely enclosed, with doors that can be opened to adjust the dynamic level, and the quiet blower is also inside. There is an 8' Stopped Diapason, Bass & Descant, 8' Open Diapason Descant, 4' Flute Bass & Descant, Twelfth 2 2/3' Descant, fifteenth Bass & Descant, and a Seventeenth 1 3/5' Descant. The retractable keyboard has 54 notes, C-f3, and can be slid to the left for antique pitch of A-415 and a dividing point of c1/c#1, or to the right for A-440, dividing at b0/c1. The two 8' registers greatly increases the dynamic, timbral, and textural flexibility so important for sensitive continuo use. The Stopped Diapason is based on old English models, as are all of the stops, making them perfectly adapted to 17th and 18th century music. The instrument is also well suited for hymns and voluntaries in a chapel or small church. We would be delighted to build one for you in your choice of woods, finishes, and decor. |
